Fire cold plunge: the published specs, and the gaps worth knowing about

Read this first

Fire Cold Plunge sells direct, not through Amazon. We are not in an affiliate program with the brand and earn nothing from this page. We have also not used one. Everything below is what the brand publishes on its own site, read on 16 September 2026, set against what a buyer would need to know - and the Amazon options further down are there because they are the only links on this page we can honestly build.

That makes this a different kind of page from the one the search term implies. Reading a brand’s website carefully is not a test, and no amount of careful writing turns it into one. What it can be is an account of what is on the record, what is missing from it, and where the record contradicts itself - which, for a brand-direct purchase in the several-thousand-dollar bracket, is most of what you can find out before a delivery truck arrives.

What Fire publishes

Fire sells an all-in-one tub: the chiller is inside the unit rather than a separate box beside it, which the brand describes as all-internal cooling. There is a residential model and a commercial one. For the residential tub, the brand’s own pages publish the following:

Several of those are genuinely good disclosures. A published ambient range is the question an outdoor buyer actually has, and most tubs never answer it with a number. A named filter type with a replacement interval and a stated turnover rate is more than most chiller listings give you. And 33 F is a lower floor than any chiller on this site publishes - the lowest in our chiller data is 36 F.

The all-in-one design has a real space consequence, too. A tub with an external chiller claims the tub’s footprint plus somewhere between about 1.2 and 3.1 square feet for the chiller, plus clearance for air and hoses. Fire’s published 65 by 28.5 inches is about 12.9 square feet and that is the whole of it. For a small patio or a garage corner, that matters.

The numbers that are missing

Four figures you would want before buying a plunge are not published anywhere we read on the brand’s site:

  • Water capacity. No gallon figure at all. The external box is about 269 gallons of volume by its published dimensions, so the water capacity is necessarily less than that once the walls, insulation and internal compressor are accounted for. That is an upper bound, not an estimate, and it is not a number to dose treatment against.
  • Wattage or amperage. The brand tells you the outlet but not the draw, so there is no way to compute a running cost or to know whether the tub should have its circuit to itself.
  • Weight, empty or filled. Which is what decides whether a deck can take it.
  • Interior dimensions. The outside is 65 inches long; the inside is necessarily shorter, and by how much decides whether a tall person can get their shoulders under. Our page on plunges for tall people explains why the outside dimension is not the one to go by.

The 33 F floor has a gap of its own. It says where the cooling stops but not how long it takes to get there, or from what starting temperature. Compare the TURBRO chiller below, whose listing publishes a cooling time with its starting temperature named: 110 F to 36 F in about five to six hours. A floor with a time attached lets you plan; a floor on its own tells you the limit.

The noise claim is an adjective. The brand describes the cooling as whisper-quiet but publishes no decibel figure, and for a compressor that lives in the tub - and possibly beside a bedroom wall - a number would be worth more than the word.

The trial and the return policy do not read the same way

The product page advertises a 30-day risk-free trial. The brand’s return policy page, read the same day, says returns must be initiated within 30 days of delivery, in the original packaging, that customers are responsible for the cost of return shipping, and that a 15% restocking fee will be applied to all returned products.

We do not know which of those governs a trial return, and we are not going to guess. Possibly the trial has its own terms that override the general policy; possibly it does not. On a large freight item, return shipping plus fifteen percent is not a small sum, so the practical advice is simple: before you order, ask the brand to confirm in writing what a return within the trial period will cost you, and keep the packaging until the window closes.

The warranty, read to the end

The headline is a one-year manufacturer warranty, and the warranty document itself is written in the name of Bloomfield Systems. It covers defects in materials or workmanship, at the company’s option to repair, replace or refund, and it excludes the usual categories - misuse, inadequate maintenance, failure to follow instructions, and operation outside the stated parameters.

Three lines are worth reading before you buy rather than after something fails. The document says most repairs can be done by you: the company ships a part with video instructions. If necessary, it will reimburse up to $10 per hour for approved service providers. And if on-site repairs are not feasible, it may arrange a replacement tub or factory repairs, with you covering removal and installation costs. That is the trade-off of an all-in-one design stated plainly: the compressor is inside the tub, so a cooling fault that cannot be fixed in place can mean moving the whole unit, at your expense.

The brand also offers a free two-year extension through its referral program, and the commercial model carries a one-year warranty plus a two-year extension. Neither changes the residential base term.

What we deliberately will not tell you

  • Whether it is better than the alternatives. We have used none of them.
  • Build quality, noise or reliability. Not observable from a website.
  • An owner rating. Third-party review aggregates for the brand exist. We do not reproduce ratings anywhere on this site, because we cannot verify who left them or what was being compared.
  • A running cost. There is no published wattage to compute one from, and we will not attribute another manufacturer’s figure to this unit.

That last point is the same standard applied to Titan, which publishes a daily running-cost figure without the wattage or rate behind it, and to Vital. If you want something you can buy through us

There is no single Amazon product that does everything the Fire tub claims to, so the three below cover the three roles separately. The VEVOR 216 is the tub: it publishes a material temperature tolerance of -4 F to 140 F, the closest thing on our list to Fire’s outdoor range, and named ports for adding a chiller. The TURBRO FrostCore is the chiller with the lowest published floor we have in stock, at 36 F, and it publishes the time it takes to get there. The PlungeFit drop-in is the answer to Fire’s no-plumbing pitch: it sits in the water with no hoses at all.

These are roles, not a matched kit - check the chiller’s published gallon rating against the tub before pairing anything, because undersizing is the expensive mistake. A tub and a separate chiller will also claim more floor than Fire’s single box, which is the honest cost of buying the parts separately.

No electrical load. This draws no power of its own. The running cost of a plunge lives in the chiller, or in the bag of ice.

This is the only tub in the roundup that publishes an operating temperature range for the material itself, and it is the sort of number that separates a manufacturer from a re-brander. Minus four to 140 F tells you the walls will not go brittle if you leave the tub on a balcony through a frost, which is exactly the failure mode a renter with an outdoor plunge should worry about.

It also names the chiller ports by standard: G1/2 inch, with adapters. Most listings say 'chiller compatible' and leave you to discover the thread size after the chiller arrives. Naming the standard is what makes the claim actionable, and it is why we treat this as a tub you can start with ice and upgrade later without buying twice.

The 3.1 inch drop-stitch wall is the thickest published here. Drop-stitch is the construction used in stand-up paddleboards - thousands of threads holding two surfaces at a fixed distance, so the wall stays rigid rather than bulging - and thickness is directly what insulates. Six of eight checklist items published, and the capacity in the title matches the capacity in the spec table, which in this category is not a given.

Buy it if

Someone starting with ice who intends to add a chiller later and wants the ports specified before they buy.

Skip it if

You need a tub under about twelve square feet of floor. This is a full-length oval.

A chiller cycles. It draws its rated power while the compressor runs and almost nothing while it does not, and how often it runs depends on ambient temperature, insulation, lid use and setpoint. We do not measure duty cycle, so we publish the two figures that need no assumption and no figure in between. Computed at 18.34 cents per kWh (June 2026). The method.

This is what a complete chiller spec sheet looks like: 1,030 W rated power, 9,553 BTU/h maximum cooling capacity, AC 110 to 120 V at 60 Hz, a 36 to 86 F range, and a stated cooling time with the starting temperature named. Every one of those is checkable, and together they let you predict what the unit will do in your room rather than hope.

The BTU figure is the one nobody else publishes and the one that actually lets you size a chiller properly. Horsepower is a compressor rating, not a cooling rating, and the relationship between the two varies by design. BTU per hour is the heat actually removed, which is the number that matters when you are deciding whether it can hold 132 gallons at 40 F in a warm garage.

At 1,030 W it is nineteen cents an hour at full draw - lower than both 1,200 W half-horse units here despite being a full horsepower, which is either better efficiency or a difference in how the figures were derived. The three-stage filtration is named by micron rating rather than described, and the ozone generator is a real sanitation method rather than a marketing word.

Buy it if

Someone who wants to size a chiller by arithmetic instead of by horsepower.

Skip it if

You want the smallest footprint. At 21 by 24 inches this is the largest unit here.

Direct-in-water cooling removes the entire plumbing problem: no ports, no hoses, no pump priming, no leak points. For a renter, that also removes the part of a cold plunge setup most likely to put water on a floor you do not own.

It costs you in power. At 1,200 W this is twenty-two cents an hour at full draw and, in the theoretical case of running continuously for a month, about a hundred and sixty dollars. It will not run continuously - it cycles to hold a setpoint like any refrigeration - but among the chillers here it is at the expensive end and the 280 W Pod Company unit is at the other.

The 150-gallon rating and the 39 F floor are both genuine capability. If you have a large tub and you want it properly cold rather than merely cool, this is a reasonable pairing, and the WiFi scheduling means you can have it chill overnight on a cheaper tariff if your utility has one.

Buy it if

A renter who wants no plumbing and is prepared to pay for it in electricity.

Questions people actually ask

Is the Fire cold plunge sold on Amazon?

Not as far as we could establish. Searching Amazon for it on 16 September 2026 returned unrelated tubs and chillers from other sellers. Fire Cold Plunge sells through its own site, so we hold no affiliate relationship with the brand and earn nothing whether you buy one or not.

How cold does the Fire cold plunge get?

The brand publishes a floor of 33 F, reached with a compressor built into the tub rather than an external chiller. It does not publish how long it takes to get there or from what starting temperature, so the figure tells you where the cooling stops but not how fast it arrives.

Does the Fire cold plunge need a dedicated circuit?

The brand says it runs from a 110 to 120 V US household outlet and includes a GFCI extension. It does not publish a wattage or an amperage, so there is no way to tell from the brand's own material whether it should have the circuit to itself. A 15 A household circuit carries about 1,440 W continuously; ask the brand what the unit draws before you choose the outlet.

What is the Fire cold plunge return policy?

The product page describes a 30-day risk-free trial.
