The short version
Footprint: the number that usually decides it
The head position line is the one people underestimate. In a blanket, your head is out and the air you breathe is room temperature. In a tent, your head is in - or in the case of most designs, poking through a neck opening, which is a compromise between the two. Being able to breathe cool air changes how long a session feels, and it is why 45 minutes in a blanket is a normal target while 30 in a tent is a decent one.
What each category discloses
This is where the two diverge sharply, and it is the reason the tents in our roundup score roughly twice what the blankets do.
Two things fall out of that table. Portable saunas are much better at electrical disclosure, which is what makes them costable. Sauna blankets are the only category where anyone publishes an EMF figure at all - and only two of eight do, which we cover in what EMF numbers mean.
Cost, which is not the deciding factor
At the US residential average both are cheap enough that the difference does not matter. A 900 W tent for 30 minutes is about eight cents. A blanket at an assumed 1,200 W for 45 minutes is about seventeen. Over four sessions a week that is the difference between roughly a dollar forty and roughly two eighty a month.
What does matter electrically is the circuit. The largest steam tent in our roundup draws 1,600 W, which is above the 12-amp continuous limit of a standard 15-amp circuit and needs the outlet to itself. A blanket, whatever it draws, is bounded below that ceiling by the same outlet. If your apartment has one circuit serving the whole room, that difference is real. So which one
If you are in a studio, a bedroom you share, or anywhere you cannot dedicate floor space: blanket. If you have a spare corner, a garage or a spare room, and you want to sit upright in hot air rather than lie in a heated bag: tent. If you want the fullest specification sheet in either category, the tents win, and it is not close.

Six of the eight items on our spec checklist are published here, which is the highest count of any blanket we looked at. The dimensions are given twice - folded for use and opened flat - which is genuinely useful, because a blanket you have to lie inside is a different piece of furniture from a blanket you lay out on a bed, and most sellers publish only one of the two numbers.
The warranty is the outlier. A lifetime term, conditional on registering the product, is the longest published commitment in this roundup by a wide margin, and it is the sort of claim a seller does not make lightly on a heating appliance. It is worth reading as a statement about expected failure rate rather than as a promise you will ever need to use.
What is still missing is the number that matters most for cost: rated watts. Nobody in this category publishes it, and Lunix is no exception, so the electrical-fit and cost-to-run components of the score have nothing to work with. The EMF language is the same phrase everyone uses - 'Low EMF' with no measurement, no unit and no distance - which earns partial credit for saying something and no credit for saying anything checkable.

These are maximums, assuming continuous draw. Six of eight checklist items published, including the two that matter most for this site's purposes: 900 watts and a 113 F ceiling. That is 7.5 amps, well inside a standard outlet, and it costs about eight cents for a thirty-minute session at the national average rate.
The 113 F maximum is worth pausing on, because it is much lower than the 140 F figures quoted by infrared units in this roundup and that is not a defect. Steam at 113 F and 100 percent humidity is a harder environment to sit in than dry air at 140 F. Comparing the two numbers directly is the most common mistake buyers make in this category, and it is why our comparison of infrared and steam exists.
At 9.2 pounds it is the lightest full-size unit here by a clear margin, and the listing gives a real folding procedure rather than a claim of portability. If the sauna lives in a closet between sessions, weight is not a spec, it is the thing that decides whether you actually use it.

At 1,050 W this draws about 8.8 amps, which a standard 15 A outlet carries without complaint even with something else plugged in. It is the highest-powered infrared unit here that still sits comfortably under the 1,000 W line where we start recommending the outlet be left to itself, and a thirty-minute session works out to roughly ten cents at the national average rate.
The heated foot pad is the detail worth knowing about. Infrared tents heat what the panels face, and in a seated tent that means your back and sides get the heat while your feet sit on ambient floor. A separate foot element is the direct fix and not every unit in this price range includes one.
The footprint is the smallest of any sit-in sauna in this roundup: 27.6 by 31.5 inches deployed, about six square feet, which is roughly the area of a single armchair. That is what makes an infrared tent viable in a one-bedroom apartment at all.

This is the only blanket in the roundup where the EMF claim comes with a number and a unit attached: 0.0 mG, described as measured and third-party safety tested. That is meaningfully better than the phrase every other seller prints, and it is the single reason this blanket scores where it does.
It is still an incomplete figure, and we score it as one. A magnetic field reading is meaningless without the distance it was taken at, because the field falls away sharply with distance - a reading at the surface of a heating element and a reading two feet away are different numbers describing the same appliance. Healix does not publish the distance, so the figure cannot be reproduced or compared against another maker's.
The rest of the listing is unusually plain-spoken about what to expect: a 15 to 20 minute warm-up, light sweating in the first session and a full sweat by around the fifth to seventh. Whether or not that matches your experience, publishing an adaptation curve at all is more than most sellers attempt, and it is the kind of detail that makes a listing feel written by someone who has used the product.

Questions people actually ask
Is a sauna blanket as good as a portable sauna?
They do different things. A blanket heats you lying down with your head outside the heat, which many people find easier to tolerate and which makes a 45-minute session comfortable. A tent heats the air around you sitting up, with your head inside it, which feels much more like a real sauna and is harder work. If you want the sauna experience, get a tent. If you want the heat exposure with the least friction, get a blanket.
Which takes up less space, a sauna blanket or a portable sauna?
A blanket, decisively. It needs a bed or a stretch of floor while in use and folds into a bag the size of a large holdall. The smallest sauna tent in our roundup claims about six square feet of floor while it is standing, and the largest about eleven.
Which is cheaper to run, a sauna blanket or a portable sauna?
They are close, and both are cheap. Portable saunas publish their wattage - from 800 W to 1,600 W - which works out to between about 8 and 16 cents for a 30-minute session at the US residential average rate. Sauna blankets do not publish a wattage at all, but a 120 V outlet caps them at about 1,440 W, which puts a 45-minute session under 20 cents in the worst case.
Can you use a sauna blanket in an apartment?
Yes, and it is the easiest option for a rental. It needs no floor space of its own, it makes no noise, it produces no steam or moisture to worry a landlord about, and it plugs into an ordinary outlet. A steam tent puts humidity into a room, which in a small apartment is a real consideration.
